2011 Thirty (30) Q School Reimbursement WinnersNGA Pro Golf Tour Sets Standard in Developmental Golf-
Myrtle Beach, S.C. - September 29, 2011 - When Ryan Spears knocked in his final putt at the Buffalo Run Casino Classic, the rookie earned $28,000 and a Nationwide Tour exemption. Needless to say, the former Wichita State Shocker was pumped, he wasn’t the only one celebrating at the season-ending event.
Following the $200,000 tournament, the top 30 players in points on NGA Pro Golf Tour were eligible to receive PGA Tour Q-School reimbursements, if they have met the criteria set forth in the NGA Pro Golf Tour rulebook.
With 30 members receiving reimbursements at the end of the regular season and three more reimbursements to be determined in the Q-School Prep Series, the NGA Pro Golf Tour will have paid Q-School fees for 54 golfers over the last two seasons, more than any other tour in the history of developmental golf.
Q-School Reimbursement Winners:
1. Jeff Corr -Longwood, Fla. - 5852 points - During his time on the NGA Pro Golf Tour, Corr has earned nearly $600,000 and finished second on the money list two of the last three years. But if his hot play continues in Q-School, he’ll join 100s of NGA Pro Golf Tour alums at the higher levels of golf. Corr had eight top-five finishes, including two wins, and earned nearly $150,000 this season.
2. Lee Williams - Alexander City, Ala. - 5,371 points - The former Auburn standout made 19 of 19 cuts this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour and had 12 top-10 finishes. Williams earned nearly $100,000 in 2011.
3. Philip Pettitt Jr. - Murfreesboro, Tenn. - 4,391 points - Pettitt Jr. picked up two victories and five top-10 finishes on the NGA Pro Golf Tour in 2011. In doing so, the former University of Tennessee golfer earned over $110,000.
4. Brandon Brown - Shelbyville, Ky. - 4,339 points - Brown became the third golfer in NGA Pro Golf Tour history to win four events in a single season, joining Chad Campbell and Andrew Morse. The former Eastern Kentucky golfer earned more that $150,000 this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour.
5. Nick Rousey - Pensacola, Fla. - 4,307 points - Rousey, a former University of Alabama stalwart, recorded 10 top-15 finishes and one victory during the 2011 campaign. Rousey finished the season with $93,203 in earnings.
6. Kyle Ellis - Senatobia, Fla. - 3,716 - Ellis made 19 of 20 cuts this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour and racked up seven top-20 finishes. Ellis’ best finish of the season came in the Michelob Ultra Classic in March, when he finished second. The former University of Mississippi golfer earned $64,657 this season.
7. Justin Smith - Saint Paul, Minn. - 3,602 points- Smith, a former University of Minnesota golfer, returned to the NGA Pro Golf Tour after spending last season on the Nationwide Tour. Smith made 14 of 14 cuts and only posted two finishes outside the top 25 all season. Smith earned $63,086.
8. Patrick Wilkes-Krier - Orlando, Fla. - 3,440 points- Wilkes-Krier started the second with three missed cuts, but the Ball State alumnus rallied back by making 14 of 15 cuts to end the season. During the hot streak, Wilkes-Krier posted 13 top-25 finishes and earned over $61,000.
9. Reid Edstrom - Auburn, Ala. - 3,326 points - After missing the cut at the season-opening event, Edstrom made all but one cut the rest of the season and picked up seven top-10 finishes. The former Auburn Tigers’ best finishes of the season was a second-place showing in the Heart of North Carolina Classic in July. Edstrom earned $64,875 in 2011.
10. Robert Streb - Edmond, Okla. - 3,236 points - Streb made 16 of 18 cuts this season and picked up seven top-15 finishes. The former Kansas State golfer’s best finish of the season was a fifth-place effort in the Cutter Creek Golf Classic in July.
11. James Vargas - Miami, Fla. - 2,911 points - Vargas picked up a win and four top-10 finishes during the 2011 season. The former Florida Gator also earned over
$70,000.
12. Ryan Spears -Del City, Okla. - 2,892 points - The former Wichita State Shocker claimed the final event of the season with a playoff win over Ryan Blaum. During his rookie season, Spears had eight top-20 finishes and earned over $60,000.
13. Chris Wilson - Dublin, Ohio - 2,889 points - Wilson, a 2010 PGA Tour member, made 13 of 14 cuts on the NGA Pro Golf Tour and finished second on two occasions during the season. Wilson earned $57,648 on the NGA Pro Golf Tour in 2011.
14. Michael Lavery - Tustin, Calif. - 2, 882 points - After posting just one top-15 finish in his first eight starts in 2011, the former UC Irvine standout had three top-5s and one top-15 over his last five events.
15. Jesse Hutchins - Cincinnati, Ohio - 2,715 points - Jesse Hutchins started the season with a win in the Members Only Shootout. After the win, the Wright State alumnus added three more top-5s and one top-10 finish to end the season. Hutchins earned $73,574 this season.
16. Ryan Blaum - Coral Gables, Fla. - 2,658 points - After battling mononucleosis for several years, Blaum returned to form this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour. The former Duke All-American had seven top-15 finishes in 2011. In his last three events, Blaum finished 1st, 2nd and T13. Blaum earned $67,052 this season.
17. Andy Winings - Brownsburg, Ind. - 2,322 points - After missing his first two cuts of the season, the former University of Kentucky golfer made 14 of 15 cuts to end the season. Burns finished the year with eight top-25s.
18. Daniel Burns - Mobile, Ala. - 2,320 points - The former University of South Alabama golfer recorded eight top-30 finishes this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour. Burns’ best finish of the season came in the Woodcreek Classic, where he finished T6. Burns earned $36,753 this season.
19. Stuart Anderson - Alberta, Canada - 2,253 points - Anderson split much of the season between the NGA Pro Golf Tour and Canadian Tour, where he won the Tour Championship. While he didn’t win on the NGA Pro Golf Tour, Anderson did record three runner-up finishes and earn over $55,000.
20. Matthew Harmon - Grand Rapids,, Mich. - 2,230 points - Harmon, a former Michigan State standout made 11 of 14 cuts and had eight top-25s during the 2011 season. Harmon’s best finish of the season was a T2 in the Terry Moore Ford Open.
21. Casey Wittenberg - Memphis, Tenn. - 2,215 points - Wittenberg started the season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour before playing his way back onto the Nationwide Tour, where he is currently 41st on the money list. During his time on the NGA Pro Golf Tour, Wittenberg earned six top-10 finishes.
22. David Miller - Daphne, Ala. - 2,114 points - After failing to post a top-25 finish in his first 11 starts on the NGA Pro Golf Tour, Miller finished the season with four in a row, including two third-place finishes and a runner-up finish.
23. Ryan Henry - Broken Arrow, Okla. - 2,067 points - The former University of Tulsa golfer had eight top-25s on the NGA Pro Golf Tour this season. Henry’s best finish of the season was T7 on two occasions.
24. Patton Kizzire - Auburn, Ala. - 2,055 points - Kizzire made 13 of 16 cuts in 2011 and had nine top-30 finishes. The former Auburn golfer’s best finish was a T2 in the Savannah Lakes Village Classic.
25. Tyson Alexander - Gainesville, Fla. - The former Florida Gator made 13 of 15 cuts this season and posted six top-25 finishes. Alexander is the son of University of Florida coach, Buddy Alexander.
26. David Skinns - Suwanee, Ga. - 2,006 points - Skinns, a University of Tennessee alumnus, had a win and seven top-25s this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour.
27. Jeff Dennis - Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. - 1,924 points - The University of North Florida product made 13 cuts and picked up six top-25 finishes during the season.
28. Erick Justesen - Pensacola, Fla. - 1,921 points - The former U.S. Open competitor made 13 of 18 cuts on the NGA Pro Golf Tour and earned five top-25 finishes. Justesen, a Cal State Stanislaus product earned his best finish of the season came in Killearn Country Club Classic, where he finished T7.
29. Michael O’Neal - Jacksonville, Fla. - 1,859 points - O’Neal, a former University of North Florida golfer, had five top-25s on the NGA Pro Golf Tour this season and two top-35s on the Nationwide Tour.
30. Kyle Morris - Scottsdale, Ariz. - 1,787 - The former Seton Hall golfer finished in the money 13 times this season on the NGA Pro Golf Tour and had a best finish of T5 in the Heart of North Carolina Classic.
31. Clark Klaasen - Grand Rapids, Mich - Won Q School Reimbursement by way of victory at Q School Prep Series - Hombre Country Club Event (2nd Stage PGA Tour Q School Host)
32. Peter Campbell - Windermere, FL - Won Q School Reimbursement by way of T4 finish and subsequent playoff victory at Q School Prep Series - Auburn University Club event (1st Stage PGA Tour Q School Host)
33. Hugo Leon - Tequesta, FL - Won Q School Reimbursement by way of victory at Q School Prep Series - PGA Village Wanamaker Event (1st Stage PGA Tour Q School Host)
