Hooters Tour Well Represented at 107th US Open
N. Myrtle Beach, SC…2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson, 2003 US Open winner Jim Furyk and two-time US Open winner (‘93 & ‘98) Lee Janzen are three of twelve former Hooters Tour members to gain exempt status for the 107th US Open Championship, scheduled from June 14-17 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. This impressive list includes 2003 British Open champion Ben Curtis, 2003 PGA champion Shaun Micheel, David Toms, Lucas Glover, Joe Durant, Chad Campbell, Vaughn Taylor, John Rollins and Stewart Cink.
While these players were exempt from Local and Sectional Qualifying into the Championship based on their PGA Tour performances and world rankings, a group of former and current Hooters Tour members fought through Qualifiers to earn one of the remaining spots.
For the second straight year, former MichiganState golfer and current Hooters Tour member John Koskinen (Baraga, MI) qualified for the US Open. Koskinen joined former Hooters Tour players Bubba Watson, Jerry Kelly, Camilo Villegas, Sean O’Hair, Boo Weekley, and Eric Axley to make it through in Columbus, Ohio number one. 2006 members Lee Williams and Chris Stroud also advanced through Qualifying at Ball Ground, GA and Memphis, TN respectively.
In all told, 25 current or former Hooters Tour players will be in the field for the 107th US Open Championship, June 14-17, 2007 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA.

In fact, 50% of the players that earned their 2007 PGA Tour cards, and 47% of the players that earned full exempt status on the Nationwide Tour started their careers on the NGA Hooters Tour.
