The Web.com Tour's importance as a gateway to the PGA TOUR will be enhanced starting in 2013.
Commissioner Tim Finchem has released details on the new qualifying structure. A total of 50 PGA TOUR cards will be earned through a season-long race and season-ending Web.com Tour Finals.
"I think it's great for the Web.com Tour," Web.com Tour president Bill Calfee said. "I think it's a better system where performance matters over the entire season. We still have the top 25 getting PGA TOUR cards and now you will add even more excitement to the final events with a lot of up for grabs with the next 25 PGA TOUR cards available."
The PGA TOUR Policy Board, after receiving input from the PGA TOUR and Web.com Player Advisory Councils, has approved a system that will award cards to the top 25 on the Web.com Tour money list after the regular season. Under the new system, though, there will be 25 additional cards up for grabs during the season-ending tournaments in September, which are anticipated to have purses of $1 million.
