McCormick, SC (April 23, 2006)…Kris Blanks (Rincon, GA) fired an eight-under par 64 Sunday in the final round of The Savannah Lakes Resort Classic over the 7032 yard, par 72 Monticello Golf Club to garner his second career Hooters Tour title.

“My goal this year was to come out here and make every cut and get myself some confidence back after losing my Nationwide card this year,” said the veteran touring professional. “The ball is going where I want it to this year, and I believe I have only made five bogies the past two weeks.”

Blanks carded rounds of 67-68-67-64 for a four day total of twenty-two-under par and a new tournament record for the Savannah Lakes Resort Classic. The previous record of twenty-one-under par was set last year by Camillo Villegas.

Third round leader Tommy Biershenk (Boiling Springs, SC) finished all alone in second place four strokes behind Blanks.

“I wanted to come out today and make Tommy play good golf all day and not coast to victory since I was three strokes back at the start,” said Blanks. “Those people that watched the two of us play the first 14 holes saw some really great golf.”

“Once I took the lead on 13 and he doubled 15 and gave me a four stroke lead, I just wanted to make birdies to make him come and get me.”

Blanks collects $31,930 for his first place finish this week, while Biershenk takes home $15,943 for his second place finish.

Augusta’s Emmett Turner headed up the local contention in the Savannah Lakes Resort Classic finishing tied for 7th at thirteen-under par. Augusta’s Jay Mundy finished T16 at eleven-under par.

The Hooters Tour takes two weeks off before heading to Chicago, Illinois and Indian Lakes Resort May 8-14, 2006.

HOOTS: Blanks finished 2nd to Biershenk a week ago in Auburn and Biershenk finished 2nd to Blanks this week in McCormick.

Blanks’ wife was pregnant with the couple’s first child in 2004 when Blanks won his first tournamnt in Savannah and she is pregnant with the couple’s second child right now.
