DUKE CAPTURES HOOTERS COLLEGIATE MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THIRD TIME

ORLANDO, Florida (November 5, 2006) – The Duke Blue Devils captured their 3rd Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship in as many tries today as they defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 3-2-0. Duke was also the Champion in 2003 and 2004. This year’s Match Play was held at Eagle Creek Golf Club
in Orlando, Fla. and co-hosted by Central Florida Sports Commission.

Amanda Blumenherst, Jennie Lee and Alison Whitaker were victorious for the Blue Devils as they overcame strong performances by Chris Brady and Jacqui Concolino of the Commodores who were victorious in their other matches. In the 3rd place match, Georgia defeated Michigan State 3-1-1. Auburn and Florida were victorious in the other matches today.
