Fifty-Plus Former NGA Players in Wyndham Championship

Longs, SC—Although the NGA Hooters Tour and Nationwide Tour will not return to action until next week, there will be plenty of past NGA Hooters Tour players in action at the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., as nearly 60 former NGA Hooters Tour players will be teeing it up on the classic course.
 
Former PGA Major winners and past NGA players David Toms, Lucas Glover, John Daly and Lee Janzen are in the field this week, while Derek Lamely, a 2008 NGA Hooters Tour member, will be looking for his second win of the season after winning the Puerto Rico Open earlier this season.
 
Jerry Kelly, who played three years on the NGA Hooters Tour, comes into the Wyndham Championship ranked eighth in the PGATour.com’s Power Rankings. Kelly, a three-time PGA Tour winner, finished ninth in the Wyndham in 2008 and had a third-place effort two weeks ago at Turning Stone.
 
A win by Kelly would be the 10th victory on the PGA Tour this season by former NGA Hooters Tour Players. Past NGA Hooters Tour players Ryan Palmer, Camilo Villegas, Jim Furyk (2), Jason Bohn, Zach Johnson, Bubba Watson, Bill Lunde and Lamely have already won PGA Tour events during the 2010 campaign.
 
The NGA Hooters Tour is the 3rd largest men’s 72-hole professional golf tour in the country behind the PGA and Nationwide Tours and boasts an impressive list of alumni.

The NGA Hooters Tour has helped hundreds of professionals acquire their PGA, Senior PGA, and Nationwide Tour cards. In fact, 48% of the players that earned their 2010 PGA Tour card, and 53% of the players that earned full exempt status on the Nationwide Tour started their careers on the NGA Hooters Tour.
