The Langdale Ford Championship At KinderlouForest
KinderlouForest GC
September 1-4, 2005

Valdosta, GA (September 24, 2006)…John Kimbell (LaFayette, GA) fired a one over par 73 and then birdied the second playoff hole in Sunday’s final round of The Langdale Ford Championship over the 7781 yard, par 72 Kinderlou Forest Golf Club to win his third career Hooters Tour title.

“I was disappointed when I got to eighteen and realized that with a bogey I was going to be in a playoff,” said the thirty-seven year old Kimbell. “I had been playing well all week and a bad swing on number twelve cost me today, you can make some birdies out here but you are definitely going to make some bogies also,

Kimbell fired rounds of 71-66-72-73 for four day total of six-under par and playoff victory over Justin Smith (Franklin, PA). Smith carded a final round four-under par 68 to make the playoff.

“I started the playoff the way I finished my round, leaving myself fifty yards from the hole with my second shot out of the bunker, but a clutch chip got me to six feet and I had basically the same putt in regulation and I made it to force an extra hole.”

“On the second playoff hole I knew my fifteen footer was good all the way,” said Kimbell of the his final putt.

Michael Boyd (Tulsa, OK) and John Koskinen (St. Petersburg, FL) finished in tie for third place at three-under par 285.

Defending champion Blake Adams (Eatonton, GA) headed up the local favorites after posting a two-under 70 Sunday for a four day total of one-under par 287. Thomasville’s Jack Croyle finished at eleven-over par 299, while former ValdostaState golfer Chris Erwin finished near the bottom of the leader board at fourteen-over par 302.

“This win definitely helps with my confidence this late in the season, I can now pay for my PGA Q-School that comes up in October.”

Kimbell collects a season best $23,069 for his third career win, while Justin Smith takes home $11,501 for his runner up finish.
