Myrtle Beach, SC (July 16, 2010)… Mark Silvers (Savannah, GA) went wire to wire to win his first career professional event in just his first year out at the tenth Carolina Summer Series event of 2010 hosted by Legends Golf Club.

Silvers, who played his college golf at the University of South Carolina, carded rounds of 69-70-71 en route to a six - under par 210 total. Silvers was the only player to play all three rounds under par. He grabbed the lead after the first day and remained steady throughout the week.

“I drove the ball well which helped me a lot this week because there is no room for error on this course,” added Silvers.

Vincent Zachwieja (Palm Harbour, Fl) finished just two shots back of Silvers to take solo possession of second place thanks in part to a final round three-under par 69.

Silvers will take home $4,300 for his victory, while Zachwieja will receive $2,000 for his runner-up finish.

The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2011 Hooters Pro Series. Top three finishers each week get into the following weeks Pro Series event.

The Carolina Summer Series travels to the Black Bear Golf Course in Longs, SC July 21-23 for the eleventh event of the 2010 season.
