Four Alumni Finish Top Ten in Mexico

Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun, Mexico (February 21, 2010)…Coming into this week’s Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo Mexico, PGA Tour rookie Brian Stuard had yet to show the ability that propelled him to the PGA Tour. However, a final round of 66, gave the former Hooters Tour champion his first runner-up finish in only his fourth start of the 2010 season.

After opening with back to back four-under par 67’s, the Jackson, MI native only managed an even par 71 for the third round, leaving him tied for tenth heading into Sunday’s final round. Stuard’s final round five-under par 66 started off quickly with an eagle two on the par four third. He then managed a bogey and two birdies to go out in 33. Stuard closed with three birdies and one bogey over his final nine holes to move the tour rookie into a tie for second with fellow Hooters alum Joe Durant. For the week Stuard earned $316,800 which vaulted him to 37th on the PGA Tour money list.

Former Hooters tour player Chad Collins continues to find success in his second go around on the PGA Tour. Collins posted his best finish in 2010, a tied for fourth place, thanks in part to rounds of 67-68-67-70 for a four day total of 272(-12). Collins took home $135,720 for his best career finish on the PGA Tour. Fellow Hooters Tour member Skip Kendall (1989-91) shot a final round seven-under par 64 to join Collins in a tie for fourth. Kendall’s 64 matched the low round of the tournament and vaulted the long time touring pro 25 spots up the leaderboard.
