Calabash, NC (February 19. 2010)...The final event of the inaugural Carolina Winter Series concluded today at the par 72, 7,101 yard Crow Creek golf club with tour leading money winner Jake Scott (Strongsville, OH) taking home the title.Scott, a two-time winner on the Carolina Winter Series, opened up a four shot lead after an opening round of four-under par 68 Wednesday. The former Cleveland State golfer then watched as his lead balloon to an incredible ten strokes after a second round five-under par 67 Thursday that saw him close his final four holes birdie-par-birdie-eagle.
Scott never took his foot off the gas pedal as he closed Friday’s final round with a two-under par 70 to finish the week at 11–under par 205, 13 strokes ahead of second place finisher Geoffrey Montross. Montross tied Scott for the low final round with a two-under par 70 to finish at two-over par 218.
Scott takes home $2,500 for his second win of the season, while Montross takes home $1,300 for his runner-up finish.
With his win Friday, the 22-year old Scott finishes 1st on the season long money list with $12,162.50 in earnings and earns full exempt status for the 2010 NGA Hooters Tour Pro Series. The Hooters Tour would also like to congratulate Vince Hatfield (2), Yoshio Yamamoto (3), Luke Hart (4) and Brian Bergstol (5) for finishing Top 5 for the season and earning their 2010 Hooters Tour cards.
The Hooters Carolina Winter Series takes a break for the summer months but action begins on the Hooters Pro Series March 1-7, 2010 in Ocala, Florida at Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club for the Ocala Marion Sports Commission Classic presented by Michelob Ultra. The purse for this event is $200,000 with $30,000 going to the winner.
The Carolina Summer Series kicks off its 2010 campaign March 18-20, 2010 at the famed Tidewater Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Top three finishers from this event earn exempt status in the $250,000 Terry Moore Ford Open at Rock Barn.
