Longs, SC …The National Golf Association’s Hooters Professional Golf Tour announced today that the Nationwide Tour’s Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open has granted an exemption into the event to The Hooters Tour leading money winner over the four (4) events in June & July: Bentonville, AR, Miami, OK, Houston, TX and Victoria, TX. The Hooters Tour member who accumulates the most money in those four events will earn the exemption into The Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.

The Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open has long been a stepping stone for former Hooters Tour players in realizing their dream of playing on the PGA Tour. Past champions include Hooters Tour alumni Scott Piercy, Jeff Klauk, Tyler Williamson, David Toms and Tom Lehman.

“The PHS Wichita Open has long been one of the premier events on the Nationwide Tour schedule,” said Robin L. Waters, Hooters Tour President. “The player who earns the spot will have a great opportunity to gain valuable experience towards his quest to move on to The Nationwide Tour and ultimately PGA Tour full time.”
 
The Hooters Tour player who earns the exemption into the PHS Wichita Open will also have the opportunity to play in a Monday pro-am (Compensation of $500), opportunity to play in an off-site Wednesday pro-am (Compensation of $500) as well as receive lodging from a host family.

One of the longest standing PGA Nationwide Tour events in the country, the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open will embark upon its 21st year at the Crestview Country Club from August 1 - 8, 2010. In 1990 Wichita was one of the original 30 stops on the then Hogan Tour.
