Ocoee, FL (January 14, 2010)…Former University of Florida golfer James Vargas (Miami, FL) carded a six-under par 65 Thursday in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 7200 yard, par 71 Forest Lake Golf Club to capture the title.
 
The twenty-five year old carded rounds of 67-67-65 for a three day total of fourteen-under par 199 and a one stroke victory over Michael Thompson (Birmingham, AL) and Will Wilcox (Pell City, AL) who each closed with five-under par rounds of 66’s to finish at thirteen-under par for the tournament.
  
Vargas takes home $12,462 for his victory, while Thompson and Wilcox take home $5,680 for their runner-up tie.
 
With the victory Thursday, James Vargas jumps to third place on the season long money list with $24,164 while Michael Thompson maintains his second place position at $25,927.  Joe Affrunti continues to lead the money list with over $28,600 in earnings through nine events. The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2010 Hooters Pro Series with their membership fee waived.
                                                                                                       
The Bridgestone Winter Series travels to Diamondback Golf Club next week for week 11 of the season with action starting Tuesday, January 19-21, 2010.
