Little River, SC (January 12, 2010)…Stephen Poole (Aiken, SC) closed with a two-under par 70 in the final round of the Hooters Carolina Series event at the 6928 yard par 72 River Hills Golf and Country Club to garner his first victory of the season.(Tournament champion Stephen Poole left)The former Clemson University golfer posted rounds of 73-70-70 for a three day total of three-under par 213 and a two stroke victory over Tony Parrish (North Myrtle Beach, SC). Parrish also closed with a two-under par 70 to finish at one-under par 215.
Poole, inspired by Clemson men’s basketball upset of North Carolina Wednesday night, takes home $2,400 for the win while Parrish receives $1,200 for his second straight runner-up finish.
The Top 5 members on the 2009/10 Carolina Winter Series money list will earn full exempt status on the 2010 NGA/Hooters Tour Pro Series.
Next up, The Carolina Winter Series travels to Brunswick Plantation in Calabash, NC, January 26-28, 2010 for the tenth event of the series.
