The Bridgestone Winter Series-Week Eight

Haines City, FL (December 17, 2009)…Joe Affrunti carded a six-under par 66 Thursday in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 7,227 yard, par 72 Southern Dunes Golf and Country club to capture his second victory of the season.(Pictured Left: Champion Joe Affrunti)The former University of Illinois golfer carded rounds of 68-67-66 for a three day total of fifteen-under par 201 and a four stroke victory over fellow Illini alum Patrick Nagle, Brad Klapprott and James Vargas. Vargas matched Affrunti for the low round of the day with a 66, while Klapprott and Nagle each fired three-under par 69’s to finish at eleven-under par.
Affrunti, who successfully obtained his 2010 Nationwide Tour card last week at PGA Q-School, takes home $12,368 for his victory, while the trio of Nagle, Klapprott and Vargas earn $4,977 for their runner-up finishes.
With his victory Thursday, Joe Affrunti regains his top spot on the Bridgestone Winter Series Money list with $28,693 earned in three events. The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2010 Hooters Pro Series with their membership fee waived.
The Bridgestone Winter Series takes a few weeks off for the Christmas Holiday but will be back in action January 5-7, 2010 at Shingle Creek Resort.
