Minneola, FL (December 10, 2009)…2008 Bridgestone Winter Series money leader Travis Hampshire (Zephyrhills, FL) carded a one-over par 73 Thursday in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 7,107 yard, par 72 Sugarloaf Mountain golf club to garner his first victory of the season.(Pictured Left: Champion Travis Hampshire)The twenty-eight year old carded rounds of 68-61-73 for a three day total of fourteen-under par 202 and a three stroke victory over former Illinois golfer Patrick Nagle. Nagle closed with a three-under par 69 to finish at eleven-under par but Hampshire was in cruise control Thursday after setting the course record with an eleven-under par 61 in the second round.
Hampshire takes home $12,462 for his victory, while Nagle takes home $6,183 for his first runner-up of the season.
With his victory Thursday, Travis Hampshire jumps to second place on the season long money list with $16,381. Michael Thompson stills sit atop the money list after finishing tied for 12th on Thursday and has over $19,400 in earnings. The top 10 members at season’s end will earn full exempt status for the 2010 Hooters Pro Series with their membership fee waived.
The Bridgestone Winter Series travels to Southern Dunes Golf Club next week for week 8 of the season with action starting Tuesday, December 15, 2009.
