141 Former Players Advance To Second Stage
Longs, SC (November 1, 2009)…The NGA Hooters Professional Golf Tour continues to prove year after year to be the #1 developmental tour in the United States for aspiring professionals to begin their careers. The National Golf Association is the 3rd largest men’s 72-hole professional golf tour in the country behind the PGA and Nationwide Tours.This was never more evident than in the recent first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School held over the past two weeks at numerous sites across the country.
McKinney, Texas…Former player Jacob Rogers headed up a group of six players that advanced past the first stage after finishing the four round tournament with an eight-under par score of 280. Joining Rogers, were current Nationwide Tour player Josh Broadaway, 2009 Hooters Tour members Blake Sattler, David Suggs and Travis Hampshire and former player David Morland. Of the twenty-three spots to move on, the Hooters Tour represented six of them.

Spring, Texas…Former Hooters Tour member Ted Brown (Richmond, Va) took home medalist honors at the first stage of Q-School in Spring, Texas thanks to rounds of 70-71-67-68 to finish ahead of current member Christian Ries by one stroke. While Brown and Ries held the top two spots for the week, a large group of former players advanced to the 2nd stage of Q-school by finishing inside the Top 23 and ties. The group included Chris Rogers, Kyle Ellis, Chris Naegel, Andy Walker, Mike Johnston, Simon Walsh, Chad Wilfong, Denver Haddix, Jason Flowers, Dan McCarthy, Robert McKnight and Steve Gilley. All told, Hooters Tour alumni took home fourteen of the twenty-seven spots.

Florence, SC…Florence Country Club proved to be one of the most successful sites for former Hooters Tour players to advance to the 2nd stage of Q-school as an impressive eighteen of the twenty-five players that advanced started their careers on the Hooters Tour.
Heading up this impressive list was Adam Hart (Blythewood, SC). Hart opened with rounds of 62-63 and cruised over the final two rounds to finish second at thirteen-under 267.

St. Augustine, FL…2008 Hooters Tour Rookie of the Year Russell Knox continued his stellar play over the past two seasons by taking home medalist honors at St. Johns Golf and CC after firing rounds of 69-70-68-66 for a four day total of fifteen-under par 273 and three stroke victory over fellow Hooters Tour player Chris Devlin.
Knox and Devlin weren’t the only current members to have good weeks in Florida, as current members Joe Affrunti finished T-10, Jeff Corr (T-12), Kevin Warrick (T-12), Jesse Hutchins (T-18) and Matt Harmon finished T-18. All told, the Hooters Tour took thirteen of twenty-two spots that advanced to 2nd stage.

Port St. Lucie, FL…Former Hooters Tour member Erik Compton was the feel good story at the Port St. Lucie 1st stage site. The former Georgia golfer took home medalist honors after firing rounds of 68-67-65-66 for a four day total of twenty-two-under par 266. Compton is best known for having a second heart transplant in 2008. After breezing through his first stage with a seven stroke win, it appears Compton is back to the form that made him one of the nation’s top amateur players in the early 2000’s.
Ten of the twenty-two spots to advance to the 2nd stage were taken by current or former Hooters Tour players.

Auburn, AL…Current Hooters Tour member Andrew Medley (Athens, AL) took home medalist honors for the week at The Auburn University Club to advance to the 2nd stage of Q-school.
Medley carded rounds of 70-68-68-70 for a four day total of twelve-under par 276 and a one stroke victory over fellow alum Patton Kizzire.
Medley and Kizzire weren’t the only former members to find success in Auburn for the week as an impressive twelve of the twenty-five players that advanced, started their careers on the Hooters Tour.

Murphy fired rounds of 67-72-71-65 to finish T-13 at thirteen-under par 275, while Kontak finished T-20 after carding rounds of 69-68-69-71 for a four day total of eleven-under par 277.

Valdosta, GA…Current Hooters Tour member Keegan Bradley (Orlando, FL) took home medalist honors for the week at Kinderlou Forest GC to advance to the 2nd stage of Q-school.
Bradley carded rounds of 68-66-65-70 for a four day total of nineteen-under par and won the first stage by eight strokes over current member Tyler Leon and alumni Jason Buha.
Bradley, Leon and Buha weren’t the only former players to have successful weeks as fourteen of the twenty-four players that advanced to 2nd stage started their careers on the Hooters Tour.

Pinehurst, NC…Former Hooters Tour member Jay Woodson headed up the Hooters Tour contingent for the week at Pinewild CC in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Woodson finished all alone in second place for the week after carding rounds of 69-73-70-67 for a four day total of nine-under par 279.
Joining Woodson at 2nd stage are current and former members Matt Hendrix, Jason Kokrak, Luke List, Scott Gibson, Adam Mitchell, Steven Gangluff, Rolf Muntz, Ian Hessels, Neil Johnson, Alex Hamilton and Adam Meyer. Lakeland, FL… Current Hooters Tour Player of the Year Ted Potter (Silver Sprints, FL) took home medalist honors for the week at Grasslands Golf & CC to advance to the 2nd stage of Q-school.
Potter carded rounds of 70-66-66--66 for a four day total of twetny-under par and won the first stage by four strokes over former players Eduardo Herrara and Anthony Broussard.
Former member Ty Harris carded the low round of the 2009 Q-school after carding a twelve-under par 60 in third round to help secure his spot in the second stage.
Potter, Broussard, Herrara and Harris weren’t the only former players to have successful weeks as seventeen of the twenty-four players that advanced to 2nd stage started their careers on the Hooters Tour.

Jones fired rounds of 79-69-70-67 to finish third by himself at three-under par 285, while Buchner finished T-4 after carding rounds of 73-76-68-69 for a four day total of two-under par 286.
