Former Member Wins 1st Title
Sandy, Utah (September 13, 2009)…With a three-under par 68 in Sunday’s final round, former Hooters Tour member Josh Teater, captured his first Nationwide Tour title at The Utah Championship.(picture left courtesy of Dennis/PGA TOUR)Teater, a former standout at Morehead State, carded rounds of 65-67-64-68 for a four day total of twenty-under par 264 and a four stroke victory over Tyler Aldridge and a five stroke victory over former member John Kimbell, Andrew Buckle, Steve Wheatcroft and Matt Jones.
With the victory, Teater collects a first place check worth $99,000 and moves from 21st on the money list to 8th with $238,200 in earnings and virtually locks up a spot in the TOP 25 at season’s end. The TOP 25 earn their 2010 PGA TOUR cards.
"It's a great feeling," Teater acknowledged. "But you have to keep playing well to finish as high as possible in 'THE 25' to get in as many tournaments as possible next year, so I'm going to keep my foot down and try to keep making birdies."
Teater was a member of the Hooters Tour from 2003-2008. He made the cut in 69 of his 93 starts on the tour and earned over $167,000. Teater’s best season came in 2004 when he finished 13th on the money list with over $49,000 in earnings.
