Hawkinsville, GA (August 30, 2009)…Former University of Alabama golfer Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) was able to close the deal at the ComSouth Classic over the 6741 yard par 72 Southern Hills Plantation by posting a twenty eight under par 260 total (Pictured L to R: Mike Penn (VP of Marketing ComSouth, Jeff Harlow(Tournament Director), Chip Deason (Winner) and Scott Obert-Thorn (CFO ComSouth).
 
Deason, who carded rounds of 64-63-64-69, held off a charging Ben Briscoe (Wales) who fired a final round seven under par 65 to finish in solo second at twenty six under par 262.
 
“I’ve got to give a lot a credit to my swing coach Scott Hamilton (Cartersville, GA), we’ve been working hard on getting my game where it needs to be” commented Deason on the win “I like the results so far.”
 
Travis Bertoni (Paso Robles, CA) finished in solo 3rd position after posting twenty one under par 267 while Jeff Corr (Longwood, FL), after firing a third round 63, finished the tournament with a twenty under par 268 total.  
 
“I just tried to start over each round. Every round starts at even par, what you do after that is up to you no matter if your in the lead or not, you still have to play well” said the two-time NGA Hooters Tour winner when asked about having to complete 34 holes on Sunday after several rain delays throughout the week.
   
A group of six golfers finished nine strokes back of the former Crimson Tide golfer after posting nineteen under par 269. This group includes Will Wilcox (Pell City, AL), Bronson LaCassie (Queensland, Australia), Yoshio Yamamoto (Clarksville, TN), Joe Affrunti (Crystal Lake, IL), Matt Savage (Louisville, KY) and current NGA Hooters Tour money leader Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL). 
 
Matt Hughes (Dalton) heads up the Georgia contingency at The ComSouth Classic presented by Southern Hills Plantation after posting a sixteen under par 272 total while Chris Wolfe (Warner Robins) finished at fifteen under par 273. 
 
Hawkinsville native Jon David Kennedy, who carded the low final round at the ComSouth Classic with a eight under par 64, finished at fourteen under par 274.
 
Deason takes home $33,566 for his win at The ComSouth Classic presented by Southern Hills Plantation while Briscoe receives $16,575 for his runner up finish. 
 
Next week the NGA Hooters Tour travels to Dothan, AL for the Dothan Classic presented by Michelob Ultra contested over the RTJ Golf Trail @ Highland Oaks September 3- September 6, 2009.
