The former Georgia Tech golfer fired rounds of 66-72-71-69 for a four day total of two-under par 278 and a spot in a playoff with Tom Watson.   After Watson played the traditional British Open four-hole playoff in four over par, Cink was able to capture the Claret Jug finishing the playoff at two under par.

“It’s mixed feelings, because I’ve watched him (Watson) with such admiration all week” Cink said of the playoff victory over the 59 year old Watson.

"I feel like whether Tom was 59 or 29, you know, he was one of the field, and I had to play against everybody in the field and the course to come out on top," Cink commented. "I don't think anything can be taken away. Somebody may disagree with that, but it's going to be hard to convince me."

Along with the Claret Jug, Cink collected $1,221,005 for the win and moved into 13th place in the FEDEX Cup Points Standings.  The Open victory was Cink's sixth on the PGA TOUR.
