The LaSalle Bank Pro Golf Classic
Knollwood CC
May 18-21, 2006

Granger, IN (May 21, 2006)…Tommy Biershenk (Boiling Springs, SC) fired a three-under par 69 in Sunday’s final round of the LaSalle Bank Pro Golf Classic over the 6695 yard, par 72 Knollwood Country Club to become the first two-time winner on tour since Wil MacKenzie in 2004.

“I can safely say that I am probably the most comfortable I have been in a long time playing with the lead,” said the thirty-two year old tour pro. “I didn’t hit the ball well in today’s round or in the second round but I was able to keep my bad rounds from costing me the tournament.”

“I have learned a lot about my game in these past few weeks,” said Biershenk. “I hit rock bottom when I lost my Nationwide Tour card but I feel confident that my game is back to the level where I could win on the Nationwide or PGA Tours.”

The former Clemson Tiger carded rounds of 64-72-66-69 for a four day total of seventeen-under par 271 and a three stroke victory over Jose Buezas (Bahia Blanca, Argentina). Buezas fired a six-under par 66 Sunday to move from a tie for eighth to all alone in second place.

“I might be going out on limb here, but I think the guys on this tour are working harder than the guys on the PGA Tour and you really have to be able to golf your ball to hold them off.” “I think that $24,000 check means more to them right now than the bigger checks on tour.”

John Koskinen (St. Petersburg, FL) and Andrew Tschudin (Melbourne, Australia) finished tied for third at twelve-under par 276, five behind Biershenk.

Nathan Fritz (Greenwood) headed up the contingent from Indiana in the LaSalle Bank Pro Golf Classic firing a four-day total of nine-under par 279. Crawfordsville’s Lee Williamson made the biggest jump of the day among the Indiana crowd, carding a four-under par 68, good enough for a seven-under par 281 finish. Clayton’s Jamie Broce finished the tournament at five-under par 283, while amateur Brandon Boomsma (Schereville) closed with a five-over par 77 Sunday and an even par 288 finish. Matt Blair (Rolling Prairie) rounded out the Indiana contingent with an even par 72 and a four day total of one-over par 289.

Biershenk collects $23,510 for his third career win on the Hooters tour and second win in four tournaments. Buezas collects a season high $11,631 for his second place finish.

The NGA Hooters Tour heads east to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Quicksilver Golf Club next week for the Quicksilver Golf Classic presented by Ameriprise Financial.

HOOTS: Tommy Biershenk fired the same exact seventeen-under 271 total in April when he won the Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau Classic and coincidentally won that event by three strokes also.

For his last four tournaments, Biershenk has two wins, a second place finish and T39th.

Biershenk moves into first place on the money list with over $65,000 in earnings.
