Davenport, FL (January 29, 2009)…Tyler Leon (Dallas, TX) carded a remarkable ten-under par 62 Thursday in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series over the 6,950 yard, par 72 Providence golf club to garner his first win of the season.

The twenty-four year old carded rounds of 65-69-62 for a three day total of twenty-under par 196 and a five stroke victory over recent Big Break X contestant James Vargas (Miami, FL). Vargas held the second round lead at twelve-under par but managed only a three-under par 69 Thursday in gusty wind conditions.

Leon, a former Oklahoma State golfer, takes home $11,191 for his victory, while Vargas takes home $5,548 for his second top five finish of the season. With the victory, Leon moves into 10th place on the season long money list with $17,577, while Travis Hampshire retains his top spot with $26,935 after a T-6 finish on Thursday. The top ten players on the money list at season’s end earn full exempt status for the 2009 Hooters Tour.

The Bridgestone Winter Series will take a week off before traveling to Orlando’s Rio Pinar Country Club for week 10 of the season.
