N. Myrtle Beach, SC… The NGA Hooters Tour does it again!!! Former member Sean O’Hair became the latest success story from the Hooters Tour on Sunday as he captured his first PGA Tour title at the John Deere Classic in Silvis, IL.
"(On) 18, especially a guy in my situation who never won before, you're definitely almost puking," he said, laughing. "My hands were so sweaty, I was more concerned about keeping my hands dry than anything."
He shot a 6-under-par 65 on Sunday, holding off J.L. Lewis and Hank Kuehne to win his first career victory. The rookie, who turns 23 on Monday and was making only his 18th career start, finished with a 16-under 268.
The victory earns O'Hair a spot in next week's British Open at St. Andrews, but he said he wasn't sure yet if he was going to go.
O’Hair was a member of the Hooter Tour in 2001, playing in six events and making two cuts. His best finish was a T-42 in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
