Winter Garden, FL (February 21, 2008)…Michael Welch (Quincy, MA) carded a one-under par 71 in the final round of The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series members only championship over the 7101 yard, par 72 Stoneybrook West Golf Club to collect his first victory of the season.
Welch fired rounds of 65-67-71 for a three day total of thirteen-under par 203 and a two stroke victory over Ted Potter (Silver Springs, FL). Potter, winner of the previous two events, closed with a two-under par 70 for a three day total of eleven-under par 205.
Welch takes home $14,506 for his first win of the season, while Potter takes home $7,205 for his runner-up finish.
The Bridgestone Winter Series would like to congratulate Jeff Corr, Ted Potter, Kevin Hall, Michael Welch, Matthew Borchert, Brad Klapprott, Joey Lamielle, Jesse Hutchins, Russell Knox and Bryant MacKellar for finishing “TOP 10” on the season ending money list and earning full exempt status for the 2008 NGA/Hooters Tour.
