Campbell Takes Viking Classic Title

Former Member Wins Fourth PGA Title

Madison, MS (September 30, 2007)…With a final round three-under par 69 Sunday, former Hooters Tour member Chad Campbell collected his fourth career PGA TOUR Title by winning The Viking Classic.

"I wasn't doing anything very well, to be honest with you," Campbell said of his season, which included just 13 rounds under 70 coming into the tournament. "At times I'd drive good, at times I'd putt good. But I never put everything together for 18 holes. I was just trying to figure out what I was doing well. This week it just clicked."

The Andrews, Texas native fired rounds of 70-72-64-69 including two birdies over his final three holes for a four day total of thirteen-under par 275 and a one stroke victory over tour rookie Johnson Wagner at The Annandale Golf Club.

"Once you think you got it, you know, it goes away from you,'' he said. "So you've just got to keep working hard. It's not like I stopped working hard. It's just I don't know what has happened. This year has just kind of been a little bit of an off year. And I've been working probably extra hard. It's tough when you're not playing up to your expectations and my expectations for me exceed everyone else's.''

With the win, Campbell collects $630,000 and moves from 82nd on the money list to 43rd on the money list with $1,621,602 in earnings.

Campbell played the Hooters Tour from 1997-2000. In eighty-six career starts on the Hooters Tour, Campbell made the cut in seventy-eight and collected thirteen wins (eight in the 2000 season) and $776,976 in career earnings. Campbell is the career leader in wins and earnings.
